As I sit down to write my cat has managed to get the toy-on- a- stick-string somehow looped over her tail and is meowing at me incessantly. Its not stuck, and I think she just wants to play, her brother is looking at her like she's crazy, and it's really quite amusing. I love my cats, they are an important part of the family, so the first person I thought to invite is Dr. Doolittle, the translator.
So, now the cat is untangled and the house is quiet, so the next thought I had was God, Of course I have a million questions, "why are we here?" "what's the meaning of life?" and "what's up with the platypus?" That reminds me, as our creator, God can translate for the animals, Dr. Doolittle doesn't need to be on the invite list.
The next thought is of course, who can top God, I mean the majority of the people I'd like to meet would simply want to listen to what God has to say, they'd be so busy listening to God, I wouldn't really be "meeting" them at all, so my best choices are, people I need to settle a dispute with, or dead people who already get to talk to God on a regular basis, who might still be interesting.
So I actually thought hard on this, and what my own goals in life are, as much as I love to learn and meet fascinating people, my ultimate goal is to make the world a better place. So as much as I'd love to meet Abraham Lincoln, I'm inviting the CEO of Monsanto, the company responsible for most of the GMO foods, Andrew Wakefield, of the anti-vaccine movement, the head of the FDA, and the President of the United states, I'll of course plan this dinner right after the next inauguration to get a president with at least 4-8 years left in office. We're all going to sit and listen carefully.
