It started with a toothache, followed by my first-ever allergic reaction to an antibiotic. At first any movement including a walk made the tooth throb and later on any exercise made me itch more. I had expected weight issues, which turned out not to be a problem. I've taught myself well. I no longer stress eat, and I listen to my body, so during my two weeks of no exercise, It turns out I was not as hungry, and room temperature very soft foods just didn't appeal much that first week anyway.
What I hadn't expected was such a dramatic change in my mental state. Even in the winter when I am known to hibernate, I still get to the gym or workout at home several times per week. In the warmer months I also hike, bike, walk and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
I missed everything. I felt much more stressed than I normally do, I started to feel overwhelmed. Just two days back to normal and I already feel wonderful again. My skin is almost back to normal and I can tolerate sweating again. I got back to Zumba yesterday and restarted my running program today. I got the house cleaned and cleared up many of my to-do's and remembered why it is that coach. Such a simple thing makes such an enormous difference in my life, my mental and physical health, and love what I do, spreading the word and helping others realize such vibrant and healthy lives.
