I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this at first but I'm happy to say I love it.
The Fitbit Blaze is the new activity tracker that does ... Well Everything.
I've had mine a few days. Have used the one (which clips to the waist) for a long time. I did note that while pushing a grocery cart I don't get steps, however at the end of the day the two trackers are within a few hundred steps of each other. It's fairly accurate when compared to my one. Next I wore it to zumba with my polar heart rate monitor. I didn't find it nearly as accurate, but I later learned that it was user-error. I'm not sure why but when you click on the "exercise" button and tell it that you are working out, the heart rate monitor becomes more accurate at the higher pulse rates.
At lower pulses it seems to be just fine on it's own
The sleep tracker is great. it just knows when you are sleeping and engages itself. this is great because I forget to turn the one on and put it on my wrist, even when paying attention and trying to compare the two, I haven't been able to remember to do that. It seems very accurate.
The workout feature is pretty amazing, so far I have used it for running. It tracks everything including heart rate, distance, pace, and when I looked at my dashboard, it even had the route I ran today. A few days ago I ran on an indoor track and somehow it seemed to know that (there is no map on that day) This could definitely be handy -- in case I am kidnapped while running -- the police would only have to check my fitbit profile to tell where and exacty when. I can't see much point to the map except it verifies how accurate the distance really is.
It has other features such as being able to discretely read text messages on the device Very handy when driving, working, and otherwise it being an impolite time to check your messages. Probably best just not to set this up now that I think about it
In all seriousness, I loved it. I loved the sleep feedback, the info on my workouts and when you tell it you're about to work out you get great feedback and higher accuracy for the higher heart rate. It held up well against a polar heart rate monitor and a fitbit one.
Sadly I got a dud, which will not hold a charge, so It's going back. Fitbit customer support was able to quicky log into my account and verify the problem and has shipped my new one. I can't wait. I've had a fitbit for a few years now an Have always found them to have exceptional customer service, so I am not worried.
I love this tea kettle. I have been so fortunate to have found teas that I can get excited about. I had never before actually enjoyed tea until I met Tiffany, My tea lady, at a vendor event. She had the table next to me and although not a tea drinker myself, I tried her samples and they were delicious. I fell in love with Steeped Tea Loose leaf teas. This tea kettle makes the experience complete.
This tea kettle has simple buttons to program the perfect temperature water for various teas. They kept it easy by labeling the buttons, not just with the temperature, but with the tea that is best enjoyed at that temperature. There is a button for Green tea, white tea, oolong tea, et c. The base plugs into the wall and the top is cordless for easy pouring. It's portable and I can easily bring this to work when I want to share tea with my friends, and I bring this to friends houses, because I loved the tea so much I decided to become a consultant.
The neat desk scanner is a great device. I suppose most scanners can scan but this scanner does everything you could possibly want and because of this it accomplishes some very important Balanced Living tasks.
One of the best ways to use less plastic, save money, and enjoy a healthier life is to stop buying water in plastic bottles. Klean Kanteen is my favorite water bottle.
These are responsibly made. I have owned several of these, partially because my kids lost one or two, but also because I love them. These are stainless steel with no liner, so they are completely free of BPA and any other chemicals that could leach into the water. These come in stainless steel finish or in a variety of colors and the paint never chips. The bottle mouths are wide enough to clean easily and they have a variety of tops to choose from.
Such a simple device yet so helpful. I have two fireplaces in my home, a traditional fireplace and a propane fireplace. When not in use you should close the flue, but must open it when the fire is burning and until all embers are extinguished.
Even with the flue closed all the way, there will be something of a draft. This handy device is great It magnetically attaches to the fireplace to block the draft. It's heat resistant and designed to be used with embers in the fireplace, so you don't freeze while the flue is still open and you're waiting for them to go out completely. We immediately noticed the room to be much more comfortably warm when the fireplace wasn't in use.
I use mine on the gas fireplace, which no matter how hard I try, always has a draft from the flue. I purchased mine in the fall so have not used it in the summertime yet, but one reviewer points out that the pilot light must stay on to keep wasps out, and this does generate some heat, and so it would make sense that this should also save on cooling costs.
Saving money on heating and cooling just got a whole lot easier. I had my eye on the NEST for the longest time, but at $250 I just couldn't justify the expense when I found this beauty. Although I did find the Nest thermostat to be more visually appealing, at just under $100 AND with nearly all the same features, I went with the Honeywell.
This Has saved me on both propane and electricity and I love it. My upstairs has a lower end model, it's just my bedroom and it's on a fairly fixed program that really only changes when we go on vacation. The rest of the house is on this. This is programmable for 7 days, which makes it simple to keep the house a little colder on work days when no one is home. Setting the temp is easy, you just choose what you want it to be and when and the thermostat figures out when to start working toward the new temp.
The Kill-a-Watt is a great power and money-saving tool. I am fortunate because my public library loans this out. This is a fabulous device that will surely pay for itself but after you've gone through the house and tested everything. I can see it becoming obsolete. I used this at my office and my home and then brought it back to the library. It would certainly make sense to split this with a friend or pass it on as a gift to a new homeowner when done. If you do purchase one, no worries, the item absolutely pays for itself quickly.
I was very excited when I first ordered this, used it a few times then stashed it for a while, but I find myself loving it more and more now that I have started to really use it.
It's a food dehydrator, which is one of the many ways to reduce food waste, especially for those items you cannot really freeze, it works very well also as a space saving way to prevent food waste when you don't have a spare freezer.
The unit itself is great. The trays stack and you can use all or just a few of them and the unit is expandable by purchasing extra trays from the manufacturer. The heated fan is in the top, so nothing will drip onto it and ruin the mechanism. I also enjoy the fruit roll up tray and the clean a tray that enable you to dehydrate less solid items like chili or even applesauce into a fruit-roll up.
I Must Admit I fell In love with the Vitamix so much I just had to have one. I attended a medical conference and there was a demonstration and smooth does not begin to describe the smoothies you can make with this device.
Since owning this I have had no problem getting 5 fruits and vegetables daily, I often drink them, and it's very filling, since the Vitamix gives you 100% of the fruit. With enough ice, in order to avoid brain-freeze, You really will drink it slowly enough that it's not going to become a problem for calories. My 4 fruit plus protein powder and spinach smoothie keeps me full all day long.
